Swim Course Description
A stunning marathon swim starting in Homewood, California and swimming into the sunrise, across the “True Width” of Lake Tahoe. This 12-mile route finishes in the back of Glenbrook Bay in Glenbrook, Nevada by the quaint ‘stone pumphouse’.
The True Width swim across Tahoe is an honest mid-distance swim for marathon swimmers working up to longer distances and part of the Lake Tahoe Open Water Swimming Association’s “Tahoe Triple Crown”. If you are seeking a marathon swim in 2019, the True Width is worthy of consideration.
12-Miles / 19.3-Km
Solo, Tandem*, Two-Way**, Relays (2-6 people, 1-hour shifts)
Cherry Street – Homewood, California
Stone Pumphouse on Glenbrook Bay – Glenbrook, Nevada
The first hour of the swim is in darkness requiring the swimmer to wear the necessary lights on the cap and tail of the suit (provided by us). Swimmers must be comfortable swimming in the dark and sighting off of the escort vessel.
As with all Lake Tahoe swims, altitude can be an issue. Hydrate! Electrolytes!
Swimmers will meet the boat either in Homewood, CA or at Camp Richardson in South Lake Tahoe for travel to the swim start. At the completion of the swim, we will return to the initial meeting location.
Please read the frequently asked questions section for additional information about swimming Lake Tahoe.
*Tandem swims of two solo swimmers swimming simultaneously off the same boat on the same course are allowed. Tandem swimmers must be equal in speed and have experience swimming together over long distances. At least one kayak and kayaker is required for a tandem swim and additional fees will apply.
**Two-Way swims (round-trips) are allowed for additional fees.
Please contact us to discuss tandem and two-way swims before booking.
