“Our goal is for you to have nothing to think about but the swim.“
Open water and marathon swimming – for swimmers, by swimmers. We offer adventure and marathon swims, full-service training and swim planning, escort and marathon swim piloting. We bring a positive attitude toward everything we do. Our focus is on swimming in and around San Francisco Bay and Lake Tahoe.
We are the only U.S. Coast Guard licensed Captains and insured pilots on Lake Tahoe for marathon swimming.
On Lake Tahoe, we pilot solo and relay marathon swims on the three officially recognized courses: Length (21.3 miles), True Width (12 miles), and Vikingsholm (10.6 miles).
As Captains, our business, boats, and crew are all about safety, the comfort of the swimmer, and successful swim outcomes.
We work closely with local authorities and the United States Coast Guard for your swim safety. The Lake Tahoe Open Water Swimming Association provides independent Observers to ensure proper recording and adherence to the rules of marathon swimming for swim ratification and recognition.
We are fortunate to call San Francisco home and our year-round training grounds. On the San Francisco Bay, we pilot three marathon courses: Round-Trip Angel Island (10 miles); the 420 (20 miles), and Rock to Rock to Rock (12 miles), with more being added for 2019. We have numerous shorter courses for training and adventure swims. Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge, and night swims are all routine for us. Yes, we swim year round.
If you need help with a swim plan, or need longer training swims, we are happy to help. Many swimmers love our “6-hour qualifier” challenge swims!
Pacific Open Water Swim Co. was founded by Sylvia Lacock and Bryan Temmermand in 2017. As friends and business partners for many years, we understand the under-served open water community’s needs. We pride ourselves in bringing a level of professionalism and safety rarely found in open water swimming. Bryan and Sylvia have extensive swimming and endurance sports experience. Sylvia’s focus having been on open water channel and marathon swims exclusively for the past 15 years.
As members of San Francisco’s legendary South End Rowing Club (1873) and Dolphin Club (1877), it’s fair to say we love open water swimming!
Bryan and Sylvia are 2 of 8 founding members of the Northern California Open Water Swimming Association and Lake Tahoe Open Water Swimming Association a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation with the sole focus on ratifying marathon swims and promoting open water swimming in one of the best open water venues in the world — Northern California.
