Interested in a 2023 Lake Tahoe Marathon Swim date?
Questions or looking for a 2023 or later swim? Reach out via our Contact us page to get on the mailing list.
We have carefully selected the dates to pilot swims on Lake Tahoe. Our experience has shown these dates to be consistently favorable in terms of water temperature (64º – 68º+F / 17.7º – 20º+C) and weather.
In the weeks prior and after this window, lake temperatures fluctuate a fair amount and are often below 60ºF/15.8ºC, and air temperatures in early fall can easily dip under 32ºF/0ºC at night. As a result, the number of swims we offer is limited to this window to ensure all of our swimmers have the best chance of success.
IMPORTANT: We prioritize applicants who are marathon swimmers and intend to attempt the courses observed by and following the rules of Lake Tahoe Marathon Open Water Swimming Association, which means, in short, that you’ll be swimming in cap, suit, and googles. Solo and tandem swims are prioritized over relays. Depending on availability, we may take a limited number of assisted swims each year. If have questions about this, feel free to reach out and discuss your goals.
